Mr. Wang – three business lessons.

According to recent declarations of Schaun Rein, founder of China Market Research Group, his business model is a street hamburger and fried chicken seller.

He is considering that Mr. Wang is a business model just as much as Warren Buffet.

First lesson: You must have a goal to challenge you. (Mr. Wang works so his son can be the first of his family to have University studies).

Second lesson: You must make sacrifices to achieve your goal. (Mr. Wang wakes up at 5 in the morning and works until the late hours of the night, after that he returns to a very small studio).

Third lesson: Personalized Services. (Mr. Wang treats his customers – businessman or ordinary people with the same smile, even more he remembers their preferences).

They are setting up the last details for this index, an index that could tell you that the works of Marginean sold at public auctions last year grew with 71,35% since 2008.

The index brings into prim-plan approximately 1000 of the most traded artists in the last 15 years.

The founders of the auction house Artmark are Alexandru Baldea and the former Swiss ambassador in Romania, Radu Boroianu.

The three portfolios at Artmark are a novelty as well.

Liquid investments have 100 artists like: Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpana, Theodor Pallady, Nicolae Vermont, Leon Biju, Iosif Iser. Perfect for for players who want to invest in a short term, so this a short term investment index .

Then we have the portfolio index, for this Artmark offer works by artists like: Camil Ressu, Gheorghe Petrascu, Horia Bernea…

And the last index is Artmark Conservator, this is very useful for collectors, they offer art from Grigorescu, Tonitza and Aman.

The year 2009 was record maker, last year wore made more transactions over 100.000 euro – ‘Fetita in roz’,Nicolae Tomitza; ‘Aise’,Camil Ressu or ‘Port’,Marcel Iancu.

For 2010 the market for Romanian art will go up, in the first nine month of 2009 the prices were with 40% bigger them 2008.

Banks have two faces.

Beautiful offices and friendly faces try to hide the big commissions, taxes and interests.
The first helps the second become more bearable.
They are trying to create a more friendly environment for the customers by putting a football on their desk or by placing a caricature on the wall, all this is part of Raiffeisen’s project pilot called ‘Friendly Banking’ where the bank is encouraging their employees to express their hobbies.
If Raiffeisen is exploiting the feelings of their customers, BRD, Garanti Bank and UniCredit Tiriac are going on visual impact. BRD came up with the first personalized Card (example: you can put your picture on the card); Garanti Bank Romania is preparing to come up with a Card that has a mirror on it so the ladies can fix there make up, UniCredit Tiriac is putting fruits on their Cards(apple, strawberry…).
All this small attentions and cosmetics are necessary because they want to make their Criminal Cards look more appealing to the customer.

So what are they trying to hide?

In 2005 there were 5 million Credit Cards in Romania, by the year 2009 the number doubled up to 11 million. For these Credit cards the bank charges are up to 50%!!! (Commission and interest)

- 24% interest/year.
- 0,5% monthly management fee.
- 14 lei for every 3.000 lei used, Account management fee.
- 17lei monthly insurance fee.
- 2,5%-3% extraction fee.

For co-branded Card the interest go up to 30% (BRD-Carrefour credit card), according to Forbes calculations.

So for a 3.000 lei credit you pay monthly 186 lei interest + 50 lei commissions + 17 lei insurance fee + 14 lei management fee = 267 lei (9% of the credit).

Why you should not make quick decisions.

Listening to Jay’s ‘’Guilty until Proven Innocent’’ I received a phone call from my last employer; I don’t what to write his name, so let’s call him T.P. ;). Right now T.P. is in a big financial jam because his big business deal didn’t materialize. His is asking me to talk with some people in Italy, so that we can meet with them and maybe get some financing from them, but I don’t know what to say; I told him that this people that he is trying to reach are not at his level, they are up on the scale and we can’t just go there and ask for money. T.P. commented on that by saying: ‘’ Don’t tell me what to do, when I was counting millions of euro you where still in high school, I invented this business and this is my idea so just do like I tell you!’’. This is not how a leader or a manager should act, he must take in consideration my opinion, analyze the situation realize that on a scale of 1 to 10 he is at 5 maybe 6, these people are at 9, so learn from my experience don’t take quick decisions analyze, think, do your home work before you act; because you reaction will affect your future relationship with future partners. Let’s not forget that this is the second time he is trying to meet with this guys. He tried to meet with them in January and they refused because there loaning system was not ready.

So what did I do? I talk with the guys in Italy, and they told me that if T.P. wants to meet with them they have no problem, but not to talk about financing because they can’t promise anything right now.
What is this? I was right? O no . I talked you T.P. and his reaction was: ‘’ No problem, the important thing is that they want to meet with us’’, dear readers this is the judgment of a desperate man; by meeting with this people before the right time (when they start their financial program) he will lose a lot of money (tickets, hotels etc = 4000 euro) and a lot of time (3 days). He will realize nothing, in contraire maybe they will realize how despaired this man is, and they will not do any more business with him or they will give him a bigger loan interest.
Again learn from this.
